This week in Reception, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement as we launched our new Space Topic! Our little astronauts have officially begun their training, and their first mission was a vital one: Mastering the Flight Paths.
To prepare for our journey to the moon, we took to the "Control Centre" to practice our precision cutting.
✂️ Following the Galactic Flight Paths
The children were given special space-themed worksheets designed to help them navigate through the galaxy. These weren't just lines on a page—they were high-stakes missions!
- Rocket Take-off: Practising straight vertical lines to launch our rockets into the sky.
- Planet Orbits: Carefully following curvy paths to circle around Mars and Jupiter.
- Meteor Dash: Navigating zig-zag lines to avoid those pesky space rocks!
By cutting along these specific lines, the children are working on bilateral coordination (using both hands together—one to turn the paper and one to snip) and visual tracking, which is essential for reading and writing.
