Reception have made a brilliant start to the term, and we are so proud of the progress they have made in literacy since returning after the Christmas holidays.

The children have been doing some fantastic writing, confidently applying their phonic knowledge independently. It has been lovely to see them using the sounds they know to write words, captions and even simple sentences on their own.

We have also dipped our toe into Drawing Club, which has been a great way to support our literacy learning. Drawing Club encourages imagination, storytelling and talk, while giving the children meaningful opportunities to apply their growing writing skills.

Following our snow day last Friday, the children created some wonderful drawings showing what they did in the snow. Some children labelled their pictures using the sounds they know, while others challenged themselves to write a caption or a full sentence to explain their picture. The pride they showed in their work was fantastic to see!

Well done, Reception - keep up the amazing writing!
