Experimenting with toothbrushes.
Our Science topic this half term is all about the different types of teeth we have and how we can look after them. Today we carried out an experiment to see if the hardness of a toothbrush affects the time it takes to clean our teeth.
We had lots of fun cleaning the dirty teeth and…
PE
In PE we have been learning about balancing as a way of improving our fitness. We really enjoyed playing a game called Electrify, where we had to pass a hoop over our team along a skipping rope without it touching.
Rainforest poems.
This week we have created poems about the rainforest. We have used our knowledge from our Geography topic and from reading the story ‘The Great Kapok Tree’ to help us with our ideas.
Authors.
We have been working as authors to create our own story books based on The Great Kapok Tree. We have been so proud of them, that they now have a place in our class book corner.
Water colour pages.
We have written our own stories based on ‘The Great Kapok tree’ by Lynne Cherry.
When publishing our books we have created water colour pages of all the wonderful plants and animals that can be found in rainforests. Our finished stories will be in our class library.
Christingle
We’ve had a lovely afternoon preparing our Christingles ready for our service in church tomorrow.
Yoga
We finished our busy assessment week with a relaxing yoga session. Well done everyone you have shown such perseverance!
St Andrews Day worship.
Today we celebrated St Andrews Day in church.
Tempo, timbre and dynamics.
In music today we told the story of Little Red Riding Hood using tuned and untuned percussion instruments. We used tempo, timbre and dynamics to create our characters, show how they were feeling and what actions were taking place.
Frottage art.
In Art this week we have been learning about the technique of Frottage. This is where you take rubbings from textured surfaces to form a picture. It was a technique created by the artist Max Ernst.
Investigating melting.
We have been investigating how the temperature of water affects how quickly solids melt. As part of our experiment we used thermometers to measure the temperature. We were so amazed that one of our ice cubes took 40 minutes to melt!
Deforestation
We have been learning about deforestation linked to the Amazon rainforest. Today we have had group debates to put forward all our arguments both for and against deforestation.
